Product Description / Introduction

Advanced DMEM/F12 is widely used in mammalian cell culture. Compared with the classic DMEM/F12 medium, Advanced DMEM/F12 can reduce serum usage by 50-90% without affecting the growth rate and morphology of the cells. Cells such as CHOK1, MLE-12, MRC-5, SP2/0, Vero, and Jurkat can be cultured directly in Advanced DMEM/F12 without the need for adaptation.

The unique effect of Advanced DMEM/F12 in reducing the amount of serum added is attributed to the addition of the following components: ethanolamine, glutathione, ascorbic acid, insulin, transferrin, lipid-rich bovine serum albumin for cell culture, and multiple trace elements (sodium selenite, ammonium metavanadate, copper sulfate, and manganese chloride). Advanced DMEM/F12 requires supplementation with 1–5% fetal bovine serum and 4 mM L-glutamine or GlutaMAX™ supplement, HEPES (optional, depending on the cells). Many cell lines can use this medium without adaptation. However, the FBS concentration must be optimized for each cell line to minimize serum addition. Furthermore, it can be used in combination with specific cytokines and small molecule compounds for the cultivation of organoids.

This product is sterilized by filtration through a 0.1 μm filter, its pH is 7.0-7.4, and it contains 17.5 mM D-glucose, 1.0 mM sodium pyruvate, and includes phenol red as an indicator. It does not contain L-glutamine and HEPES.

Storage and Shipping Conditions

Transport at room temperature; store at 2–8°C away from light for 12 months.

Note

1. This product has been filtered and sterilized, and aseptic techniques should be applied during use to avoid contamination.

2. To ensure optimal performance, do not freeze.

3. This product does not contain L-glutamine and HEPES. Supplementary addition is recommended based on specific cell requirements.
